O predavaču
Maja Barošević, born in 1970 in Vukovar, graduated from the Secondary Medical School in Osijek in 1989. That same year, she began working at the University Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Zagreb, where she remained until 1995. She then joined University Hospital Centre Zagreb, working at the Clinic of Dentistry, Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, and the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb.
In 2007, she enrolled in the undergraduate Nursing programme at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences, graduating in 2011. Following graduation, she was appointed Head Nurse of the Department of Oral Surgery at the Clinical Department of Oral Surgery within University Hospital Centre Zagreb.
In 2018, she enrolled in the University Graduate Study Programme in Nursing at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb. She graduated on in 2020, earning the academic title of Master of Science in Nursing (Magistra sestrinstva). In the same year, she received the Dean’s Award for outstanding academic achievement during the 2019/2020 academic year.
She has actively participated in congresses organized by University Hospital Centre Zagreb and the Croatian Society of Oral Surgery with international participation. She has also served as a lecturer at congresses organized by the Croatian Chamber of Dental Medicine, as well as a lecturer at Ambitio Educational Centre and Interdent.
She is one of the co-authors of the textbook Dental Assisting 1, and Dental Assisting 2 and Dental Assisting 3, textbooks for medical school students.
She is a member of the Croatian Nursing Council and the Croatian Chamber of Dental Medicine. She serves as Vice-President of the Professional Division of Dental Assistants and Dental Hygienists within the Chamber and is also a member of the Croatian Society for Day Surgery – Dental Medicine Section.

Prosthetic ABC
Assisting in Implant-Prosthetic Procedures – From Impression Taking to Prosthesis Delivery
In this part of the course, participants will acquire or expand the knowledge and practical skills required to provide high-quality assistance during implant-prosthetic procedures. The objective of this lecture is to prepare participants for effective collaboration with the dentist throughout every stage of implant-prosthetic treatment while enhancing the quality of clinical workflow and patient care.
Lecture topics will include:
• An overview of implant components, with emphasis on key surgical and prosthetic elements, as well as components used for conventional and digital impression taking.
• Instruments and clinical protocols required for accurate conventional and digital impression taking, together with an understanding of the fundamental principles of each technique.
• The role of the dental assistant during intraoral digital scanning and impression-taking procedures.
• Fundamentals of assisting during the delivery of the final prosthetic restoration, including patient communication regarding the proper maintenance of implant-supported restorations and appropriate oral hygiene protocols.

Preparing the Clinic, Equipment, and Instrumentation for Dental Assistants
Dental implantology has become an integral part of everyday clinical practice. The role of the dental assistant is essential in preparing the surgical environment, organizing and maintaining both conventional and advanced surgical equipment and instruments, assisting during surgical procedures, and providing postoperative patient support and communication.
This section of the course is designed for dental assistants and dental nurses working in dental practices. Its purpose is to refresh and expand participants’ knowledge of disinfection and sterilization protocols, the preparation and organization of the surgical field for implant procedures, and the surgical kits and instruments used in modern dental implantology, including their proper maintenance and handling.
Lecture topics include:
– Disinfection and sterilization protocols.
– Surgical instrumentation and preparation of the operative field for implant surgery.
– The importance and role of the dental assistant and dental nurse during dental implant procedures.
– Contemporary techniques in oral surgery and dental implantology – what every dental assistant and dental nurse should know.
